Celeste (2018)
8.7/10on IGDB
Released
Assist Mode separates game speed, climbing stamina, air dashes and invincibility. Try slowing the game slightly while keeping ordinary stamina and hazards: reading the room and choosing a route still matter. Individual assists are adjustable, and Assist Mode can be switched off from file select. Chapters and collectibles remain available; using help is recorded on the save rather than turning the mountain into a separate, lesser campaign.

Hades (2020)
8.9/10on IGDB
Released
God Mode reduces incoming damage and grows more protective after failed runs; it does not automatically dodge, choose boons or complete a fight. Toggle it in Options when you want more breathing room while preserving the pleasure of a build coming together. Story progression continues normally. Start an ordinary save for this route, because Hell Mode is a separate commitment that does not offer God Mode.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023)
8.2/10on IGDB
Released
Slow Mode is the useful extra beyond the difficulty presets: assign its toggle and adjust the slowdown to give yourself more time to read an attack or a platforming sequence. The ordinary difficulty setting can be changed outside combat, without changing in-game rewards. You still choose a lightsaber stance, manage positioning and learn enemies; the timing demand need not stay fixed for the whole adventure.

Dead Cells (2018)
8.3/10on IGDB
Released
Assist Mode lets you adjust enemy health, incoming damage, parry timing and traps separately, or add continues from the latest save. Keeping normal enemy health while making a parry more generous preserves the combat's rhythm better than changing every value. These assists keep Boss Stem Cells and achievements available, though Daily Challenge leaderboard scores are hidden. Custom Mode has different restrictions, so do not confuse the two menus.

Control: Ultimate Edition (2020)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
The Ultimate Edition includes the updated Assist Mode. Adjust damage reduction, energy recovery and ammunition recovery independently before deciding whether immortality is useful. Faster energy recovery can keep the satisfying throw-and-shoot flow alive without making every enemy a one-hit kill. The switches are available in the Gameplay options during your playthrough, and using them does not block achievements.

Tunic (2022)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
Reduced Combat Difficulty sits between ordinary combat and No Fail mode; No Stamina Restrictions is a separate option. You can adjust these in settings while continuing the same adventure, so a tiring boss need not end an evening of exploring. The manual, routes and layered secrets still ask you to pay attention. No Fail does not solve those puzzles, and an achievement requiring a death naturally needs that protection turned off.

Psychonauts 2 (2021)
8.7/10on IGDB
Released
Separate No Fall Damage from Narrative Combat, which increases Raz's damage, and Invincibility, which protects him from most attacks. Start with the one that removes your particular frustration rather than automatically enabling the whole set. The options can be changed during play and do not disable achievements. Exploring an inventive mind, choosing powers and finding hidden routes remain a substantial part of the experience.

Chicory: A Colorful Tale (2021)
8.1/10on IGDB
Released
Reaction Speed slows elements that demand a quick response, while Player Health separately changes how many hits you can take. Those settings can be revisited, and an optional boss-skip command is available from the pause menu when enabled. Keeping the encounters but slowing them is a useful middle ground. Painting, exploring and helping the townsfolk remain the heart of the adventure whichever combat arrangement you choose.

CrossCode (2018)
8.9/10on IGDB
Released
Assist Mode independently lowers enemy attack frequency, reduces incoming damage and slows timed puzzle elements. If you enjoy the elaborate dungeon logic but cannot execute a solution quickly enough, change puzzle speed while leaving combat alone. The settings can be revised during the same playthrough without closing off the story. Lea's elemental toolkit and the job of understanding a room remain intact.

Another Crab's Treasure (2024)
8.1/10on IGDB
Released
Use the Assist Mode menu for a targeted adjustment such as less incoming damage or more shell durability before reaching for Give Kril a Gun. The gun is a valid, reversible option, but it turns fighting into something very different from learning an enemy with a rubbish shell. Assists do not disable achievements or the story. Pick the amount of breathing room that lets you enjoy that strange underwater equipment system.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (2024)
8.4/10on IGDB
Released
Custom difficulty separates enemy health and damage, environmental damage, parry timing, the dodge window and Athra behaviour. You can make parries more forgiving while keeping enemies dangerous. Changes take effect at your next Wak Wak Tree respawn or after saving and relaunching. Guided navigation and Platforming Assist are separate choices. Ordinary saves retain this flexibility; Speedrun and Permadeath saves lock difficulty.

Horizon Forbidden West (2022)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
Custom difficulty separates the damage Aloy takes from the toughness of enemies, and Easy Loot reduces the need to shoot resource components off a machine before killing it. Keep ordinary combat while changing that upgrade-material chore if it is the part exhausting you. You can revise normal difficulty settings during play, but an Ultra Hard save is locked to that difficulty. Some automatic assists are limited to Story, Easy or Custom.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered (2024)
9.2/10on IGDB
Released
The campaign's Custom settings split player damage, enemies, allies, stealth and resources. Keep scarce supplies if scavenging is interesting, but lower incoming damage or soften detection when reactions are the tiring part. Ordinary campaign settings can be revised as you play. This recommendation concerns that flexible campaign setup; Grounded, permadeath and No Return add their own rules and rewards rather than sharing one blanket promise.

Dishonored 2 (2016)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
Custom difficulty reaches beyond health bars into guard behaviour, how many active enemies attack and how quickly sleep darts work. Adjust the part interrupting your preferred kind of stealth, then keep experimenting through the difficulty menu. The level layouts, powers and non-lethal choices still provide plenty to master. Leave Iron Mode off for a flexible campaign: it is chosen for a new game and removes manual saving as well as adding permanent death.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)
7.8/10on IGDB
Released
Combat, exploration and puzzle difficulty can be set separately. Keep puzzle hints sparse if solving a tomb is the pleasure, while using gentler combat or clearer climbing routes when your energy dips. The ordinary settings can be changed during play. Deadly Obsession is the exception: it locks the categories together for that playthrough and changes saving, with its own difficulty reward. Choose a flexible preset if you want room to adjust.

God of War Ragnarök (2022)
9.1/10on IGDB
Released
Combat difficulty, puzzle timing and navigation help are separate decisions. Extend the puzzle timing without flattening a fight, or use miniboss checkpoints to reduce repeated work after getting an opponent below the required health threshold. Those checkpoints are unavailable on No Mercy and God of War. Ordinary difficulty can be adjusted, while Give Me God of War is selected only when beginning a new game. The combat tools still reward deliberate use.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023)
8.4/10on IGDB
Released
Challenge Level Modifiers separate enemy health, enemy damage and stealth awareness. Add a wider dodge/parry window or lower Game Speed when reading an attack is the barrier, then change those settings again when you feel sharper. Swing assistance is another independent decision, so comfortable traversal need not dictate combat. The campaign still gives you gadgets and abilities to combine; assistance does not require restarting it.

Sniper Elite 5 (2022)
7.0/10on IGDB
Released
Use Custom or Advanced Difficulty to separate combat, sniping and tactical information. Keep wind and bullet drop if lining up a shot is the fun part, but soften enemy awareness or restore helpful radar information. Changes are available from the pause menu without restarting a mission. Ordinary campaign progress continues; the Authentic completion achievement still calls for its specified difficulty, rather than any custom mixture.

Forza Horizon 5 (2021)
8.5/10on IGDB
Released
Choose driving assists and Drivatar difficulty separately, so you can keep steering responsibility while reducing the pressure of an unforgiving race. Offline Game Speed offers another route when reactions are the barrier, with sound and menus staying responsive. Settings are revisitable, and Horizon Stories can progress without completing each chapter's challenges. Slowdown is an offline feature; online events can impose their own difficulty rules.

Final Fantasy XVI (2023)
8.3/10on IGDB
Released
Timely accessories let you automate one task instead of changing every part of combat. Ring of Timely Focus gives a slowed warning before an avoidable hit, whereas Timely Evasion dodges automatically; choose the interaction you still want to perform. Equipment can be changed during the adventure, but an assist uses an accessory slot that could hold a stat bonus. The harder Final Fantasy mode is a separate New Game Plus option.

Baldur's Gate III (2023)
9.5/10on IGDB
Released
Custom mode separates enemy behaviour and strength from resources such as the cost of a long rest. That can keep tactical choices interesting while reducing the pressure that is wearing you down. Most custom values can be revised, but ruleset and single-save decisions need care at campaign creation, and a Custom campaign cannot return to a named preset. Custom play is not a route to the Tactician or Honour completion rewards.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (2021)
9.0/10on IGDB
Released
Custom difficulty can soften incoming damage and critical hits, change recovery rules and permit character retraining without removing the enormous character-building system. Adjust ordinary options during play as you learn which part of the rules is causing trouble. The important trade-off is explicit: changing away from required presets can forfeit difficulty-specific achievements even if you later turn the settings back up. The story remains available.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024)
6.9/10on IGDB
Released
Unbound separates combat timing, enemy aggression, damage, health, resistances and vulnerabilities. Widen the timing window while retaining enemies that make you think about party abilities and equipment. Exploration guidance has its own controls as well. Ordinary settings can be revised during the adventure, but Nightmare is a new-playthrough commitment that cannot be undone within that save. Choose your starting mode with that distinction in mind.

Sifu (2022)
8.2/10on IGDB
Released
Student difficulty gives you more health and structure, less aggressive enemies, simpler patterns and a death counter capped at one. The ageing idea and the pleasure of directing a fight through a room still remain. It is a useful campaign choice, but less flexible than the sliders elsewhere here: lowering an existing save's difficulty is a one-way change, so raising it again needs a fresh save. Arenas have their own fixed challenges.
