Gregory's Girl (1980)

A Scottish schoolboy's romantic plans are only one part of a social world the girls often understand more clearly. Bill Forsyth gives pauses and awkward logistics a buoyant comic rhythm. The older exception remains inviting because the embarrassment is specific and lightly held, without requiring the audience to share a nostalgic memory of the period.
