Delroy Lindo's Delta Slim brings musical experience, weary humour and a sense of history into the room before the night's danger takes over. A hypothetical earlier road story could follow the work and compromises behind that presence. His relationships and playing suggest a life worth hearing, a stronger foundation than promoting a memorable line into a whole film.
