Remmick's offer of fellowship has force in a Jim Crow society built on exclusion, and his Irish songs give him a history of cultural loss. But his apparently inclusive vampire community consumes people, memories and autonomy to produce its unity. The shared love of music makes the offer seductive; the coercion makes it monstrous. That tension supports a reading about belonging without requiring us to accept his promise as honest or Coogler's metaphor as fixed.
