The Fly (1986)
Movie
Released
Seth Brundle's experiment changes his body faster than his understanding of what is happening to him. Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis make the relationship worth following before David Cronenberg's practical transformations become agonising. The horror is inseparable from intimacy, care and the frightening loss of control over a familiar person. An older exception with unusually strong emotional stakes, but bodily deterioration and graphic gore make it one of the hardest watches here.
