The song album gives the vampire rock-star premise a convincing musical identity that the film's crowded mythology cannot sustain. Jonathan Davis and Richard Gibbs wrote the central songs, but the album uses guest singers: David Draiman on Forsaken and Chester Bennington on System are useful starting points. Those performances should not be confused with Davis's singing for Lestat in the film. Choose the compilation for its brooding physical energy, distinct from the separate score album; the vampire melodrama is much more enjoyable if you already want its theatrical posing.
