Online Co-op Games for Friends Who Rarely Meet in Person

A good catch-up game needs a way back in after a missed week. These choices offer a mission, room, stage or fresh run you can agree to finish together, alongside a few shared worlds for friends who want a longer home base. The practical notes explain where the host matters and where individual progress can drift. The online counts and setup advice refer to the Windows PC releases on Steam, with each player using their own copy. Do not assume that a console edition, another store or a similarly named bundle joins the same session. Update before the call, choose the host in advance and leave time to finish the current activity. For a relaxed conversation, start with PowerWash Simulator 2; for a changing group, try Deep Rock Galactic or Human: Fall Flat. A regular pair can work through Portal 2 or Escape Academy. The run-based action games need more uninterrupted attention, while Grounded, Stardew Valley and Terraria benefit from an agreement about what waits for absent friends. None needs a daily attendance promise, but a shared campaign still needs consideration.
